Hello Simon,
This looks cool and interesting. Are clients also able to interact with the board items from their client portal? Such as changing a status column and uploading a file?
Hey @stdev,
at the moment, the items are read-only.
But we are currently working on an update that introduces a concept we call “Action-Buttons”. With this, you (as the Client Portal admin) will be able to add Buttons to the board items displayed in the Portal. If the client clicks such a button, it will trigger a monday automation. So for example, you could set up a button “Resolve” which would then set the status of the item to “Done” when clicked by the client. We’ll be releasing this feature in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Regarding file uploads and generally letting the client change an item, this is something we have planned but first need to get a sense of how much demand there is for it.

Users can now define which client is allowed to which pages with our new “conditions” feature. As usual, we created an explainer video that covers this feature:

In the last couple of weeks, we deployed a bunch of new features and improvements. Here is an overview:
- Clients can now log in to the portal through Google authentication.
- The order of board columns can now be directly changed inside the app.
- Your company logo now appears on the login page.
- You can now send credentials to your clients by mail.
- Clients using the login method “credentials” can now change their own password in the portal.
- As a portal admin, you can now view the portal impersonated as a client.

Happy to share that we released the “Item Comments” feature yesterday 🎉 🎉
- Communicate and collaborate with clients in context, right on board items.
- Add file attachments to any comment, designed for easy document sharing.
- Keep internal notes hidden from clients by using the updates on monday.com
- Trigger automations when a client leaves a comment, get notified and reply quickly.
- Keep clients in the loop by email and engage them to take action on an item.
- Notify clients in the client portal with the latest item comments and activities.
- Store all comments automatically as item updates for a complete communication history.

We now also created an explainer video that covers the latest “Item Comments” feature. Check it out here:

In case you’re curious what such a portal can look like from the perspective of a client, we now have a demo portal available 😀
