Hey all,

just wanted to let you know that our app Client Portal Builder has been released in the monday marketplace recently.

With the app, you can create a Client Portal and share board items with clients. Here are some of the key features of the app:

  • Create and manage Client Portals directly from within the monday UI.
  • Data (including accounts) are stored in your monday account.
  • Every client is literally a board item in a monday “Clients” board.
  • Multiple different strategies to define which client is allowed to see which items and columns.
  • Embed monday WorkForms in your Client Portal.
  • Connect the Client Portal with your own domain.
  • Customize colors and brand your Client Portal with your company logo.
  • Multi-Region support: If your monday account is located in the US, your Client Portal will be hosted on US servers, if it’s hosted in the EU, it’ll be hosted on EU servers.

To get an overview, there is a Getting Started Video on YouTube:

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Hello Simon,
This looks cool and interesting. Are clients also able to interact with the board items from their client portal? Such as changing a status column and uploading a file?

Hey @stdev,

at the moment, the items are read-only.

But we are currently working on an update that introduces a concept we call “Action-Buttons”. With this, you (as the Client Portal admin) will be able to add Buttons to the board items displayed in the Portal. If the client clicks such a button, it will trigger a monday automation. So for example, you could set up a button “Resolve” which would then set the status of the item to “Done” when clicked by the client. We’ll be releasing this feature in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Regarding file uploads and generally letting the client change an item, this is something we have planned but first need to get a sense of how much demand there is for it.

In the last couple of weeks, we deployed a bunch of new features and improvements. Here is an overview:

  • Clients can now log in to the portal through Google authentication.
  • The order of board columns can now be directly changed inside the app.
  • Your company logo now appears on the login page.
  • You can now send credentials to your clients by mail.
  • Clients using the login method “credentials” can now change their own password in the portal.
  • As a portal admin, you can now view the portal impersonated as a client.

Happy to share that we released the “Item Comments” feature yesterday 🎉 🎉

  • Communicate and collaborate with clients in context, right on board items.
  • Add file attachments to any comment, designed for easy document sharing.
  • Keep internal notes hidden from clients by using the updates on monday.com
  • Trigger automations when a client leaves a comment, get notified and reply quickly.
  • Keep clients in the loop by email and engage them to take action on an item.
  • Notify clients in the client portal with the latest item comments and activities.
  • Store all comments automatically as item updates for a complete communication history.

A lot of new features have been added to the app since my last report. Here is a summary of what happened in the last few months:

  • We added a bunch of automations that let you automate a lot aspects of a Client Portal. This includes creating login methods, sending out automated mails to clients, resetting passwords and a lot more.
  • On the Dashboard you now see powerful insights about the portal. This includes statistics about the portal usage (how many logins per day, etc.).
  • We've added translations for french, german, spain and chinese.
  • Every portal can have nice page icons.
  • Portal settings and login methods can now be exported/imported.
  • On the login page you can now add a custom text section (with markdown support).
  • There is a new section type that lets you display client information in a more structured way.
  • Formula columns are now supported in the portal.
  • There is a new section type to create teasers/quicklinks
