1View (3)

Hi all,

I’m Thusitha Manathunga and I created 1View for monday Apps Challenge: Dream it, build it. 1View is a monday app that allows users to see and update everything at one single place. Anyone can easily add 1View to their dashboards and board views within just few seconds.

How it works?

Watch demo

Getting Started

Add 1View to your dashboard

What it does?

As the name suggests, 1View is a monday app that allows users to see and update everything at one single place. 1View is available as a monday dashboard widget and a board view. Every monday user and business can get the benefit of 1View regardless of the field they are working on. Anyone can easily add 1View to their dashboards and board views within just few seconds. Furthermore 1View is 100% secure since it stores all the information inside monday and does not transfer data in and out from monday.

With 1View you can,

See and update all tasks from one place

When your projects get bigger and bigger we know that you need a single place to see and update multiple tasks from different boards without switching pages. 1View will help you to achieve this.

Create custom views

Did you ever want to create personal views that are tailor-made just for you. 1View can help you.

Track sprints with timelines

Keep everybody on track by setting time duration for filters and showing them in a high level timeline.

Following are the key features of 1View.

Advanced Filters: Over 170+ filter conditions to chain with unlimited AND or OR.

Create Collections: Collect different items from different boards into a single list.

Auto Sort: Filters will sort automatically when their related board data changes.

Quick Status Updates: Update multiple items from multiple boards within one page.

Personal Notes: Jot personal notes to items and they are only visible for you.

Sprint Timelines: Set high level timelines for sprints to track them easily.

Graph Views: Group & visualize filter data with Status, People and Groups.

Customization: Personalize filters and collections for your look and feel.

Import/Export Views: Create duplicates of 1View widgets by importing/exporting.

User Access Management: Control who can make changes to filters and collections within a widget. Others will only have read access.

Inspiration

The idea for 1View came from the existing user feedback and issues they have on the monday community and #mydreamapp inspiration board.

Some of the most common issues users are having is to

  • See & update all tasks from one place

  • Create advanced filters to see what they only need

  • Able to auto sort pulses

  • Build dynamic and custom Kanban boards

  • Add sprint timelines and personal notes

1View was implemented to solve all these issues and more by keeping simplicity as its core. Users can create tailor-made data rich views for their own requirements. 1View will help them to do more in less time by building their dream view.

How I built it

1View was built using React. The Ant Design library was used to create all the custom UI components in 1View and all the styles were overridden to match with monday design guidelines. With the support of inbuilt monday JS SDK, GraphQL APIs, storage services and events I was able to process and store all the data relevant for 1View.

All the cell renders, filters and sortings were written from scratch using the occasional support of Underscore JS. At the initial stage of the implementation, I developed 1View as a local React app to increase productivity and to reduce build times. In this process, monday API playground gave me a great support to generate hard coded data for local app development.

Once I finished the critical part, I deployed the app using ngrok to monday and was able to integrate actual APIs and services. This way of development saved me a lot of time when debugging and coding the application. Being the sole developer, it took me around 5 weeks to complete and finish the entire application.

What’s next

There is a roadmap ahead for 1View and hope to add continuous updates and features in future. Features like dark mode support, group summaries were not able to add due to the limited time and I’m hoping to add these in the future. Also, I’m open for user feedback and 1View will improve continuously with time.

Is this free?

Yes. At the moment 1View is at it’s early stages and we are collecting feedback and suggestions to improve further. In future with additional features and updates, 1View may add subscription plans.

So, why wait…

Thank you so much for the One View app. It would be amazing if we could see subitems in the app as our team mainly uses subitems for tasks. Would love an update on when that is available. Thank you!

Hi @thusitha, thanks for the app, you are solving one of the main issues I see with Monday! So far, your app is exactly what I’m looking for with ONE ISSUE (and a couple small issues)!

I wanted to create a single place that I can see all tasks that are incomplete across boards. I used your app and applied a filter to a group of boards to collect all of the items that are outstanding (filtered by status is not done), then added each of these individual filters to a collection. The collection successfully grouped all of the outstanding tasks for each filter, but the collection was not dynamic. I added a task to a board to see if the filters would pick it up, which it did, but the collections did not. Is there a way that you could make the collections dynamic?

Also, I was hoping that I could create a filter and then clone it to another board. Unfortunately, I can clone, but then I can’t change the board that it is referencing. Is there a way to clone just the filter terms and allow the board to be edited?

Thanks again for your work,

Ryan

@Alexys @JimBahr

Sure. We are working to enable sub items in the filters.

@thusitha, I’ve been waiting for this app since I saw it at the conference! Just started playing with it, but it’s not clear to me how to get the Kanban view. Can you help?

Also, it looks like the way to collect items from different boards is to use the 1view dashboard widget, rather than the app inside a specific board, is that correct?

@thusitha and here’s an enhancement request:

When editing filters in the widget, make it possible to change the board the filter is based on. That way, I can create a filter for one board, then clone and apply it to other boards to quickly build my collection.

Thanks!

hi @thusitha your app looks great, I just started to play with it and I can see the great benefit of having multiple boards in the same dashboard. I created two filter views one for ‘new’ projects and one for ‘in progress’ when I change the status from ‘new’ to ‘in progress’ I was expecting the item to move to the correct view instantly but this is not happening unless I refresh the board… can you help sorting this out? thanks!

@thusitha hi

Im adding to this last request AND the subitem support. When Is going to be launched the new versión of 1view .?

Only did a few things with it on a limited board, but the idea and results look superb! Thank so much for this app.

@thusitha hi!

There are any news on a v2 versión of this greAt app?

@thusitha hi, how are you…

this app was upgraded??, it has subitems support??

Bumb this! It takes too long to re-do all filters every time!

@thusitha wonderful app and incredibly helpful demo, thank you so much for this! I have two boards I need to combine and subitems are used heavily in both. I’m excited to see the ability to include subitems implemented with your app! Do you happen to have an ETA on when that will be in place?

Hi @CThomas,

Currently we are working on the next version of 1View which will have the support for sub-items. It will be mostly released within a month if everything goes according to the plan. It is packed with more advanced features and it will resolve most of the current issues.

Until then you can checkout our new app “Team View” which already has the sub-items support and it can be used to visualize tasks among different team members with a set of filters across multiple boards.

Thank you so much! I’m very excited to begin using your apps, they all seem very useful!

The 1View link mentioned in the article is not working anymore.

You can use this new 1View website page to access previous content.

@thusitha hi! there are updates or still in 1.0 version?

I’m interested in the subitems as well. We mostly use this for managing to do items and without it this app isn’t very useful.

Hi @thusitha this is incredible! Thank you so much!

I’m having issues with collections, where i have multiple filters, I’d like to be able to sort by due date within that collection. I’ve done this on the filters themselves but the collection doesnt seem to have this feature. Is this something you’re planning on?

Thanks again - its been a huge help for cross-board overviews!

Hi, is there a new version supporting subitems?

I have been using your app since January. It makes things easier for me.Thanks a lot.Recently I have experiencing issues.

We have a board with lots of formulas calculating the cost of the leads and if status is won then it shows up in 1View.But now it doesn’t work.It only shows groups with few items.
