Hi everyone,I recently built an app for monday Marketplace and submitted it for review.

After working on it for the past few months, I just heard back that my submission was rejected because it’s “highly similar” to existing apps already on the marketplace.

While I understand the need to avoid super similar apps, I’ve noticed that other apps with very similar functionality have been approved as recent as July 2025

My app offers competitive pricing and new upcoming features for ehanced experience, so the rejection feels unjustifiable.

Exact wording in the rejection email

After reviewing your app, gmy app name], we found it to be highly similar to existing solutions already available in the monday Marketplace. As a result, your app tmy app name] has been rejected for publication

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Is there a way to appeal or get more clarity on such decisions?

Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on what can be done next.

Thanks in advance!

moving to the proper category

Hello @Shadab,  hope you've been well. I'm Omer from the marketplace team, and I'm happy to help out.
While I haven't reviewed your specific case, I can share our general policy.

Our review team works to ensure the competition in the marketplace is fair and relevant. We've stopped approving apps that are too similar to other apps or that don't add significant value.

With that in mind, I recommend you look for an idea that brings value for our customers before you resubmit it for approval. Please also make sure you're not building something we already have a lot of in the marketplace.

For more details on this process, you can refer to the documentation on Phase 1: App Definition here: https://developer.monday.com/apps/docs/monday-app-development-process#phase-1-app-definition

Hi Omer,

Thanks for getting back to me and for clarifying the general policy.

I completely understand the need to keep the marketplace competitive and valuable for customers. However, I’d like to point out that I’ve spent the past few months designing and building this app, ensuring it’s polished, reliable, and with upcoming features to further enhance the user experience.

What’s confusing for me is that I’ve noticed other apps with very similar functionality were approved as recently as July 2025 — just 2–3 weeks ago. This makes me wonder why my app is being rejected for being “highly similar” while those apps passed review.

I’d really appreciate it if you could review my specific case in more detail or share concrete examples of what differentiates approved apps from rejected ones in this category. That would help me understand exactly where I can improve or differentiate further, instead of starting from scratch without clarity.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to your guidance so I can move forward productively.

Best regards,
Shadab
