Is it possible to create a new user via API?

I saw that in the doc you linked to me it talks about how to work with an existing user (in all the endpoints it refers to the user id).
I am looking for a way to create/invite a user via their email? please confirm that it is not possible to do this and I can only do it by hand via the dashboard with the INVITE MEMBER button?

That is correct. There is (currently) no API support to create new users.
