CRM Issue: Multiple Contact per Customer

I have a situation in the CRM where I have multiple contacts per account.  When I add more than one contact per account, the account button on the deals page concatenates the account names which removes the functionality to allow me to open the account overview from within the deals page.  Why is this happening and can I force the CRM to only show a single account per deal?

It sounds like the deal is being associated with multiple contact-account relationships, which is why the account field is concatenating the names instead of linking to a single record. In most CRMs, a deal is designed to have one primary account, while multiple contacts can be linked as stakeholders.

I'd check whether one of the contacts is set as the primary contact and whether the deal itself is linked to a single account rather than inheriting relationships from multiple contacts. If this is expected behavior, it may require a configuration change or a feature enhancement rather than something that can be controlled by a setting.

Has anyone else found a way to designate a single primary account for a deal in this scenario?

This usually happens when multiple Contacts linked to the same Account are being associated with the Deal, causing the CRM to treat the Account relationship as multiple values. That can result in the account names being concatenated and the normal Account overview link no longer working as expected.

The best approach is to keep one primary Account associated with each Deal, while allowing multiple Contacts to remain connected to that Account or Deal. I’d also check whether an automation, integration, or custom field is writing multiple Account values into the Deal.

If you’re using integrations, make sure the mapping sends the Account ID rather than concatenating account names. This keeps the relationship structured and makes it easier to use the Account record in workflows, reporting, and automation.

At Girikon.AI, we work with businesses on CRM integration, AI automation, and CRM workflow solutions, and relationship mapping like this is an important part of keeping customer data reliable across connected systems.

So I wouldn’t try to fix this by changing the display format alone. I’d first correct the underlying Account-to-Deal relationship and make the Deal point to one authoritative Account record.
