Just remember this is in the release candidate API, not stable version. So it is entirely possible they will change or break things until its released.

2024-10 is still unstable until October 1st. Our team was working on the create_timeline_item mutation recently to add a new field. It is part of a brand new release so the docs will be ready shortly, but the custom_activity_id field will now be required in the mutation.

You know @anon29275264 and @rachelatmonday, I was just hoping that there would be somebody out there who would refute to what I wrote and point me in the correct direction so that I could resume my work 🙂 One of those rare occasions where I wanted to be wrong about something.

But it seems I can’t get to work on this just yet as much as I wanted to…

Anyway, thanks for the confirmation @rachelatmonday. I now wait with much anticiaption to see how to use the custom_activity_id field!

The good news is we added it to the docs and changelog just a bit ago 😃

Here is information about the custom activity object, and the new field is now live in the timeline items object!

Hey folks,

Trying to call the create_timeline_item mutation returns “API Error: Field ‘create_timeline_item’ doesn’t exist on type ‘Mutation’”. The exact same query works when I run it from the API playground.

Using the “https://api.monday.com/v2” endpoint.

Any ideas?

Did you pass the API-Version header in your call? This mutation is only available in 2024-10, so I’d recommend always passing the header with the version you want to call. You can read more here 🙂
